On June 5th, 2004 the Iron Acres Railroad was the site of Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue League's "Trains for Danes" fund raiser. Hosted by Kim & Mike Venezia and sponsored by Venezia Enterprises, Inc. this event was to be a tribute to the wonderful breed of the Great Dane.
Inspiration for the event came from the rescue of one of Mike & Kims danes named Goliath. The MAGDRL staff of volunteers were eager to put on the event and did a fantastic job doing so. There were craft vendors, food, door prises galore along with train rides and displays by the Whitesville Fire Department and Pinelands Antique Engine Assoc. coupled with live agility demonstations by Neil & Joyce Yaccarino's great team of Border Collies and Officer Shawn Emmons and his K-9 partner, Nester the Jester was even on hand to entertain the crowds along with MAGDDRL's Ambassador Dane "HUEY" who brought Roxann & Dennis (his mom &dad) All in all everyone had a great time and we rasied over $4,000.00 for MAGDRL to help these magnificent animals. Our thanks to all who worked and attended the event.
